You should be on Pinterest!

When you’re trying to build a business online, it can feel like shouting into the void. You’ve got something valuable to offer… but finding the people who actually need it? That’s the hard part.

And then you hear someone say, “You should be on Pinterest!”
So you open the app… and suddenly you’re knee-deep in recipes, DIY crafts, and wedding decor. 🥴
Not exactly business strategy.

That was me, too.

I had no idea how to use Pinterest for business… or that it was even possible. But it turns out, Pinterest isn’t just pretty pictures and mason jars. It’s one of the most powerful search engines online… and if you’re not using it to grow your business, you’re missing out.

Social Media Hustle

When I first started my blog, I tried all the “normal” methods to get traffic… Instagram posts, Facebook groups, even YouTube. But the results? Crickets.

It was exhausting.
The constant hustle for visibility.
The pressure to create content every single day just to keep up.
The overwhelm of trying to juggle it all with zero results.

When that overwhelm hit, I turned to what Google says… but what if there was a better way?
Meanwhile, Pinterest was quietly sending traffic to people who were using it the right way.

Here’s the thing: Pinterest isn’t social media in the traditional sense.

👉 There’s no pressure to go viral.
👉 It’s not about selfies or going live or showing your face all the time.
👉 Pins have a long shelf life… months or even years.

How to Use Pinterest to Grow Your Business

So how do you actually use Pinterest for business?

Let me break it down for you step-by-step… because I wish someone had done this for me:

🖼️ 1. Think of Pinterest as a Search Engine

Pinterest isn’t Instagram. It’s more like Google with pictures.
People come here looking for solutions. So your job is to create content that helps them.
Here’s a post that shows: what is content creation and how to start.

📌 2. Create Pins That Speak to Your Audience

This is where content creation comes in. You don’t need to be a designer. You just need to create pins that:

  • Solve a problem
  • Answer a question
  • Lead to your blog, product, or offer

You can use free tools like Canva to design carousel posts, idea pins, and standard pins that align with your content. (a carousel post just has multiple images or videos in a single post)

Here’s a post on how to choose subjects for content creation.
And one on how to create content pillars in 30 minutes.

🔍 3. Use Keywords to Be Found

Want to know how to get more followers on Pinterest? Use keywords!
(This is my favorite keyword tool to find specific Pinterest keywords!)
Just like you’d use SEO for Google, Pinterest has its own search engine system.

Include phrases like:

  • How to sell on Pinterest
  • Pinterest for business
  • Small business ideas
  • How to get clients
  • even How to post on Pinterest

Sprinkle them in your pin titles, descriptions, and board names.

🗓️ 4. Stay Consistent (Not Crazy)

You don’t need to post daily, but consistency matters. Even 2 to 3 pins a day can build serious traction over time. (And there are schedulers that can help, like Metricool and Tailwind.)

🙋‍♀️ 5. Offer Real Value

People aren’t looking for fluff. Share real tips. Offer solutions.
Your content is your marketing.

My Turning Point
