When Life Feels Too Heavy

Some days… really… it hurts to exist.

You wake up, and the weight hits you like a freight train. The ache in your chest isn’t from a cold or a pulled muscle… it’s from a heart that’s too full, too broken, too tired.

Today is one of those days for me.

When life feels too heavy, it’s not just a mental or emotional thing… it’s physical. It’s in my bones. My heart feels so heavy I can barely stand.

Ryan… my heart, my family… like a son to me… he is not doing well.
(If you wanna know more about his story, you can read that here.)

This chemo is knocking him down hard. Watching him fight… watching him suffer… it’s breaking me.

I feel like I’m going to melt into a puddle of helplessness.
I would give anything to trade places with him. But I can’t.

Everything Feels So Heavy

And that helplessness? It’s the worst part.
People say, “You’re strong,” but strength feels like a myth today.

I can’t fix this. I can’t take his pain.
I can’t sleep.
I can barely eat.

I sit with the Lord and I ask, “Why?”
I know suffering exists in this world, but when it hits your family, your people, the ones you love more than life… it shakes you to your core.

Everything feels so heavy.
I’m trying to keep my faith steady. I’m trying to remember that the Lord is near the brokenhearted. But some days I have to just sit in the quiet and cry out… because that’s all I have to give.

When life feels too heavy. This is a picture of Ryan and my youngest son and daughter and two of their friends. They went hiking in the woods that day.

Life Struggle

If you’re reading this and your life feels heavy too… if you’re feeling drained… please know you’re not alone.

God doesn’t expect us to “be okay” all the time.
It’s okay to not be okay.

There’s a reason Scripture says, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened…” He knew we would feel this way. He knew life would feel like too much.

If your heart is tired… if you feel unseen… if you’re crying in your car or on your kitchen floor… I see you. God sees you.

Here’s what’s helping me get through today:

  • Comforting Psalms, like Psalm 34:18… “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
  • Allowing myself to feel something… not fake it.
  • And if I’m being honest… just letting the tears flow.
  • Taking even one breath at a time and letting that be enough.
  • Reaching out and asking for help… even when I hate doing it.

If you’re someone who prays… please lift Ryan up.

💓 Need a Moment to Breathe?

One simple tool that’s helping me slow down in the middle of chaos is the One Minute Pause app by Wild at Heart.
It’s completely free and gives you space to release stress, reconnect with God, and catch your breath… even if you only have 60 seconds.

Honestly, some days I don’t even know what to pray… but this app helps me pause and remember I’m not carrying the weight alone.

Final Thoughts

I don’t have a neat bow to wrap this up with.
This isn’t one of those blog posts with “10 quick steps to feel better.”
It’s just me, showing up in my pain, hoping it gives someone else permission to do the same.

And friend, hear me out… you’re not weak for feeling this way. You’re human.
If life feels heavy, I’m right there with you.

We might not have the answers, but we do have each other. And we have a God who promises to carry us when we can’t carry ourselves.

Ryan’s Story… you can read that here.

Every prayer, every share, and ever dollar will help him…
Thank you for caring for this amazing human…

You’re going to be okay. Maybe not today… but one breath at a time, He’ll walk you through it. 🤍

Until next time…

All my love,

SusieQ
