(And How It Helped Me Heal When Nothing Else Did)
What is earthing and grounding? When I first heard about earthing grounding, I honestly thought it was weird. My husband mentioned it years ago, and I brushed it off as one of those “woo-woo” things. And even though I’m the friend who’s always exploring holistic living and natural health… (I often will research ‘how to heal yourself’) But, this just sounded… out there.
Oh, how I wish I had listened sooner. 😅
Last year, while helping my son and daughter-in-law move, I developed this intense, aching pain under my ribcage. Not sharp enough to run to the ER, but deep enough that I could barely sleep. My chiropractor suspected cartilage inflammation… maybe something even snapped inside, but no amount of rest helped. I started wondering… did I crack a rib? Why wasn’t I healing?
And worse, it wasn’t just physical.
I was emotionally drained. Spiritually exhausted.
I couldn’t take a deep breath without pain… and I couldn’t shake the question:
“God, is this ever going to stop?”

Grounding connects your body to the earth’s energy… either by walking barefoot outside or using tools like mats and pillow covers indoors.
Suddenly, this wasn’t just a cool wellness idea… it became part of my holistic therapy routine. 🌿

Here are just a few things I experienced… and others have too:

I now incorporate grounding meditation into my evenings… nothing fancy, just breathing deeply with my feet on a mat or outside in the grass.
Some days, I journal using grounding exercises like:
- What emotions do I feel right now?
- What physical sensations are showing up?
- What do I need from God today?
These simple prompts help with somatic healing too… getting back in touch with what my body is telling me and inviting God into that space.
What Is Earthing and Grounding, Anyway?
Earthing is the simple act of physically connecting your body to the Earth’s surface… walking barefoot on grass, soil, sand, or even concrete.
Grounding, on the other hand, is bringing that connection indoors using products like mats, pillow covers, or sheets that are connected to the Earth via grounding rods.
The Earth carries a subtle negative charge that helps neutralize inflammation and stress in our bodies—reducing pain, calming the nervous system, and improving sleep.
Is Earthing Weird or Real?
Here’s the thing.
Modern life has disconnected us from God’s creation.
Rubber soles. Concrete floors. Wi-Fi everywhere. And we wonder why we’re anxious, inflamed, and constantly exhausted.
Nature therapy is part of the answer.
Getting outside. Touching the earth. Taking your shoes off and letting God’s creation do what it was designed to do.
